Video equipment

Hi everyone .

Help . Whilst i know that Iain uses professional equipment and crew to make the commercially sold dvd`s .

What sort of cameras would be suitable for filming seminar clips ? . As im planning a seminar in the Autum and would like to film part of it as a aid to the Dojo .

What does the assembled think is the most suitable camera for this (im on a budget) .

Regards

Jon

My Panasonic HDC-SD90 works great, and wasn't too pricey. The only real drawback with it is that, because it records in a High Definition 1080p format, you're very limited on what video editing software you can use--Windows Movie Maker isn't going to work. It does come with software, but it's VERY basic. If you're okay with that, then it's a good option, in my opinion. Pretty much every video I have on my YouTube channel was recorded with it.

Hi Wastelander .

Thankyou for that advice .

Iim not to fused about editing software so a basic editor will be ok . Ive seen some of your Youtube vids , they look alright to me .

For seminars and YouTube I use a small “Flip Camera”. It gives high definition footage and the sound is pretty good too. It’s also about the same size as a packet of 10 cigarettes so very easy to drop in the kit bag and leave there until needed. Highly recommended.

All the best,

Iain

We've had good results with go pro cameras

To add to this question can anyone recommend video editting software? I've been using Windows Movie Maker up to now and so far it's been good enough. Now I need more editting tools.

This is the one I use: www.amazon.co.uk/Flip-Video-Camcorder-Generation-Memory/dp/B0029U298U/

As I say, I just drop it in the kit bag and get it out when I think we are doing something people may find interesting.

All the best,

Iain
