Naihanchi Opening Movements

Some footage from a recent class looking at three interpretations for the opening movements of Naihanchi. This is a part of a new undertaking of mine called the Naihanchi Project.

Thanks for posting! There is a variation to one of the methods you show which I practice. I will try to film it later and will post to this thread as a contribution to your project.

Hey Iain,

Just a new Facebook page and YouTube channel that I've recently started. It's about all things Naihanchi. Applications, history, training methods, etc.

The end goal I guess is to produce a book. I've attempted this several times but have had trouble making headway. My thinking is that I need to start smaller so this is the direction I've taken in my study of the kata.

Awesome! Could you post links here as they are sure to be of great interest to the community?

Very exciting! If I can be of any help on the front, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’ve really enjoyed your Naihanchi based material and I love the idea of it being collated in a book!

All the best,

Iain

Hey Iain,

Thanks for the kind words. Everything I have done with applications has been very much due to my time training with you. When I get into the writing process again I will definitely ask for your advice. I know its a process you are very familiar with! Thank you very much for offering your time.

Here is a link the the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC21N7Ijp_uq8dok6CKxpO7Q/featured

Hi Daniel,

thanks for sharing the video above, and the link to your channel. Awesome! I'm going to share it with my Karate friends. It's so inspiring.

Please, continue with both: channel and book.
