Hello,
This is the first drill I usually teach for the closing sequence of Pinan Shodan (low block, high block, low block). It explores a pre-emptive strike application. This video also explains how these techniques can be used in situations where the enemy tries to control or pull down your lead arm. It's basic and nothing flashy, but I think it is a useful application.

David
Great stuff once again. I like the application and the bit about fault tolerance at the end there.
Very nice, we recorded our flow drill for pinan shodan. I split it for few clips so next week or two i share bit different approach to the same sequence :)
Kind regards,
Les
Excellent stuff as always Dave! You break things down very well. Thanks for sharing.
All the best,
Iain
Awesome! Looking forward to it. Coming up with flow drills are a challenge for me, and I like how you connect sequences in such drills.
Best,
David
Thanks Iain! I'm doing me best!
David
Thanks David, another great video. I like how you always include what may go wrong and how to overcome that.
Take care,
Marc
Thanks so much, Marc. I like the idea that kata often gives us strategies for when a prescribed technique fails.
Best,
David
