This week's Waza Wednesday shows a simple arm lock application from Naihanchi Nidan, and uses it as a platform to illustrate the concept of kakushi-waza (hidden techniques). More specifically, we are highlighting the way that additional strikes can be found in the natural paths of motion used to reach the primary positions in kata.
That is one of my favorite points, if you're going that way anyway, why not get something out of it. I'm always dragging forearms across jaws or digging elbows as I pass, and even it's not done hard, the slight distraction or adjustment by your training partner almost always makes the ultimate technique more effective...
