Martial Arts For Mental Health

Hi All

We would like to invite you all to attend a ‘Martial Arts for Mental Health’ event. This seminar dedicated to raising funds to support wellbeing and good mental health. Seminar is held in Guildford Surrey Sports Park on 09th of April 2017

We have detailed planand them of the event: Joint locks, similarities and differences (Aikido, Ju jitsu, Karate)

Seminar will start with:

10:00 Sensei Roger- Aikido

11:00 Sensei Matt- Karate

12:00 - 12:30 Lunch

12:40 Shodo demonstration

12:50 Taiso Demonstration

13:00 Sensei Jim- Ju Jitsu

14:00 Sensei Les- Karate

15:00 closing ceremony

Seminar done we had around 30 people turning up and managed to raise £600.

That’s some “Yin-Yang” posting you’ve done this week! Shuto-uke bunkai with a guy being unceremoniously dumped into the ground … and now kata as a moving meditation. The two side of the martial arts. War and Peace. Love it! :-)

Thanks Iain karate have many faces :) it was a great seminar :) thanks for supporting it via raising awareness through your post. We had a coffee afterwards and I was surprised how many people started to open up about there experience of mental health problems.

Hi Les,

Karate does indeed have many faces … nice turn for phase! I like it!

Great that people opened up. We need to get to the point where people can talk about mental health issues in the same way they would physical illness or injury. Such a great think you are using karate to help facilitate that.
