On Sunday the 25th of October 2020 I will be teaching a open seminar on kata bunkai / practical karate in Swansea!

Due to the current Covid restrictions, we all find ourselves unable to practise with a partner at the moment. However, with a little ingenuity is possible to maintain and progress our close-range combative skills. At this seminar Iain will cover his solo pad drill kata, “Tandoku” (which translates as “alone” or “solo”). This kata will allow you to practise a variety of close-range methods in a way that is fun, that will develop the ability to deliver decisive strikes at close range, and that will provide a modern kata for the “dirt” that will help support the bunkai for the traditional kata. In addition, Iain will show how it is possible to drill throws and ground-work during solo training. NOTE: Social distancing will be maintained at all times during the seminar. Participants are asked to bring their own focus mitts with them. Numbers are strictly limited so act quickly if you want a place!

The seminar will run from 11am to 3pm and will cost just £30 per person. The location of the seminar is Ystradgynlais Sports Centre, Glanrhyd, Ystradgynlais, Swansea, SA9 1AP. For details of how to book your place please contact Wayne Jones on 07837071555 or koketsukarate@aol.com You can also write to the host via Iain Abernethy Seminar, c/o Wayne Jones, 9 St Johns Road, Clydach, Swansea, SA6 5EY
