I teach Martial Arts 11 at Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada. Martial Arts 11 counts as a Physical Education credit for graduation purposes. Here, you'll see footage from the Jan 2020 final exam where students walk the steps of the old masters. First, they demonstrate 4 two-person drills against Habitual Acts of Physical Violence. Next, the students create 4 short katas (solo forms) that represent the defensive side of the drills. The drills are then linked together to make one longer kata. Throuhgout the semester, students learned many principles of kata including the meaning of angles, use of hikite, uses of uke waza and more.
