Short 3-Skill Drill

Hello, everyone!

This week, we took a break from stricter kata application drills to look at a drill we posted on Instagram a while back, which uses methods from various kata to work deflection, limb control, and tuidi in one quick burst, in such a way that it reduces the opponent's opportunities for success. It's an easy drill to modify and explore, which is always fun.

I really like that alot and something I have not seen before. Nice explanation as well.

The elbow wrench and arm bar movement looks a little like part of Pinan Sandan - swinging the elbow round and then following with a downwards backfist.

Thanks! The elbow wrench can be seen as an application for that sequence in Pinan Sandan, absolutely! The way I did it is a bit different, obviously, and for us it is sort of a combination of a movement from Gojushiho and a movement from Pinan Shodan, but the principles are more important than the specific kata, because you can find the principles throughout many kata :)
