Power Generation Methods

Hello, everyone!

I just published a new article, in which I discuss a variety of methods for generating power, which can be blended together and experimented with to find an approach that fits the individual karateka. For those who have mentioned issues reading my articles because of the animated GIFs, I have reduced the number of them, but I have not been able to find a good way to make them only play when clicked on and still format the articles the way I like. I am still experimenting with options, so please bear with me on that!

Hi Noah,

good article. Thanks for posting.

Have you considered whipping motions as a method of generating power?

I'm thinking of techniques like a quick and snappy Uraken (backfist) where through the whipping effect we get a high speed at the end of the limb (i.e. the knuckles of the fist). Which therefore has power on impact. Still the wave is generated from the ground up through the body into the whipping limb.

Thanks, Marc! I consider whipping to be part of the "relaxation and tension" that I discuss. The whipping isn't part of the power generation, but rather part of the transmission of power from its source to the target.

Ah, I see. Thanks for your answer.
