Passai Uppercuts

Hello, everyone!

This week's Waza Wednesday takes a look at the uppercut motions from Passai, but it isn't so much about showing people a new technique--I would guess that most people have learned it, even if they practice super basic, "3K style" applications. The point of this is really to illustrate how a technique can be applied much more broadly than against a single attack by looking at the concepts behind it.

Great video! I like how your using the pulling controlling hand for Kuzushi before striking as well! Its a nice entry for Kosoto Gari, and many other sweeps and takedowns!

Thanks, Jeb! I find that a lot of Okinawan karate do things like this to whip the head around when you hit it, and if it doesn't drop them, it has the nice effect of shifting their balance around, which sets them up for takedowns--if you can't knock them out, knock them down! ;)
