A good friend of mine - Wullie Rodger - will be attempting 100 fights on 8th December in Oban Scotland.
For those of you not familiar with Kyokushin, it entails a fresh opponent every minute for 100 rounds under knockdown rules. I did 30 when I was 22 and that was quite hard. 100 will be extremely difficult especially as Wullie is not 22 any more ...
Without soliciting I'll just mention his chosen charity is 'Help for Heroes'. A worthy cause.
If any of you are up in the area I'm sure any support would be appreciated. You might even see this particular grey haired-and-should-know-better chump jumping in to help out ...

Hi Gary,
Is there a webpage with more details? I’m particularly thinking of what to do if anyone wants to make a donation, etc?
All the best,
Iain
Thanks Iain!
Didn't want to post this without your approval, but here's the link:

My pleasure - donation made :-)
Much appreciated!
A few have asked me 'how hard do they go?' and the truth is it varies between opponents. In my 30 some tried to knock me out, some were a bit wary and some just kept sweeping me over. I remember telling myself to "just keep attacking" and that helped a lot. I was 22 and with the recklessness of youth wanted to 'take on' every opponent. Goran Powell's book 'Waking Dragons' details his 30 and is an excellent read.
100 will be tough, very tough. A look at the list of Kyokushin 'greats' who have tried and failed is a real eye opener. They used to say that winning a tournament took fitness, skill and a bit of luck, while doing the fight tests was all about grit. Fit people have failed, skillful people have failed. Luck doesn't come into it.

Looking forward to helping out. I'll post a brief report here after the event.

Donated and shared the link on my facebook page
Me too! Absolute respect!
Thanks both!
Gary
He's done it!
Damaged elbow at 50, broke his hand at 80, kicked to bits but still smiling at 100.
Awesome effort, just awesome.
Gary
brilliant, that
Edit:
Now that I'm on my PC and the phone wont mess up my response
Gary, please pass on my respects to Wullie Rodger, he has joined the small few who have completed this task
Awesome. I bet he is so proud.
OSU
if we had a way of repping him I would
Will do! (You could always 'exalt' him on KDF)
Gary
Hi Gary,
Great! Please pass on my congratulations.
All the best,
Iain
I will certainly do that Iain, thank you.
I'm sure Wullie would also like me to thank - on his behalf - the members of this forum that kindly contributed to his appeal.

Follow up:-
A local journalist has aked him if he intends to make this an ANNUAL event ...
A friend of mine asked him what was harder, this or doorwork (Wullie's an accomplished doorman) and the answer was a very straightforward "Well, there's nae elbows or bottles but this was MUCH harder"
(Personally I don't fancy either but that's just me)
