Solo pad drills

Three of our dojo drills that we practice as combinations in kihon and also with partners, adapted to solo pad drills. Watched in the background by my tree uke :-)

Nice work Andrew,

As I've mentioned already, I like what you've done with the pad drill there, good stuff.

Strange times we're in which is making us all creative with our training methods. Here's a short video of a kata based pad drill I hope you will enjoy. I'm actually teaching an oline Zoom solo pad session this Friday, so with any luck I can get my head around the technology to film some of the session too.

Cheers

I like the kata application there Brian.  Short and sweet. I can see that working well with an opponent as well as solo. Nice one. I would be interested in seeing your zoom session up here if you are able to record it.

Keep up the good work

Andrew

Thanks Andrew. Unfortunately we didn't record the Zoom session it was done for a private group. I'll be training in the garage tomorrow I'll try to remember to record a couple of drills. Cheers Brian

Hi, Andrew

I got round to filming a tekki inspired focus mitt drill this morning. This covers quite a bit from the zoom session, there were other drills but it mostly focused around this.

Cheers

Good one Brian. I like the use of both pads to practice clinching and striking from both sides within the same drill. I can almost see the opponent!

Cheers

Hi guys,

Thanks for sharing the video Iain, much appreciated. Secondly, loving the t shirt (new favourite t shirt :-D)

Glad you like the drills Andrew, the applications are heavily influenced from some applications I picked up at one of Iains seminars. The solo pad drills are influenced by my Urban Combatives instructor Jamie Miller. In my mind Jamie is a pad genius.

Haven't figured out how to use the quote function yet.. even stuggled to understand it after a quick google seach. An old dog tring to learn new tricks eh ;-)

Cheers

Brian
