Looks like fun! I'm definitely a proponent of functional training dummies for karate for when you don't have a partner available, or for when you need to work something with more force than is safe with a partner.

Anytime I can work with a live partner I certainly do! I don't even care what we're working on. But there's times when doing a new technique combo or working Kata sections I'll do it in the air then mitts then bags/dummies/ Kakiya, etc... then sparring. I do like the dummy for mainly practicing the control portion of the movements without worrying about anyone joints or comfort!
