Help! Is Media player working for you?

Hi All,

I’d be most grateful if as many of you as possible could try something out for me on this website. For reasons unknown – but suspected to be a widows update last week – the media player is not working for some people.

It’s really difficult to fix because it is working fine for some and not for others and it’s very difficult to work out what the key factor is and how many it is effecting.

Could you please pop along to the Audio and Video sections of the website and let me know if the player is working for you?

If it is not working, the Video Player fails to load, and the Audio player fails to pick up the podcast and displays a default message of the artist being “The Evidence” and the song being “Polarity”.

How many people are experiencing this? And for those that are, what operating system are you using? At the moment it seems to be an issue exclusive to XP users. Is that the case?

We’ve been at this for days and really have not got that far with it as it’s hard to work out what the issue is. Please post your findings below. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Iain,

everything works perfect. I'm using WindowsXP and Mozilla Firefox 3.5.12 for the browsing.

Thank you. It looks to be an issue facing a pretty small number of XP users (most XP users are fine) and it's hard to work out what it is at their end that is the issue. The issue is being looked into and we'll let everyone know what we find.

I'm getting "The Evidence" and "Polarity" as described. Windows XP & Internet Explorer.

We are working to fix that, but it is very difficult to find what the problem is. It seems to be an issue affecting some XP users … but other XP users have no problem at all! Because we can’t work out what the cause is, it is difficult to know what to do to fix it. We spent two full days trying everything we could to narrow it down, but no joy. The issue is currently with the people who made the actually player and I’ll keep you informed as things progress. Thanks for the feedback.

The media player seems to be working for everyone now. Although, please let me know if you find otherwise?
