News & Updates

International association to go live soon!

Those of you who have been with us for a while will remember that a couple of years ago I was working to set up a Society of Applied Traditional Martial Arts (SATMA). I put in a lot of work on it, but I was never quite able to free up the extra time that would be needed for the day to day administration. The project, despite huge support, therefore stalled somewhat. The good news is that progress on such a group is now being made!

30 Mins of Online Bunkai Videos From Iain

It’s been a couple of months since the last newsletter went out due to me being extremely busy on all fronts. I therefore thought I’d put all the videos since then on a single page for ease of viewing in case anyone has missed any. We have just under 30 minutes of video in these clips and I hope you enjoy them.

These videos were taken at my home dojo, at private sessions, and at seminars in Sweden and the USA. I’ve a few more “in the can” and I’ll get them uploaded as soon as I’ve had the chance to edit them together.

Many thanks for all your support of these videos!

All Practical Kata Bunkai & Pad Drill Videos Since July 8th

I’m working on the August newsletter at the moment. To make things easy for newsletter subscribers I thought it would help if I put all the videos we have done since the last newsletter update (July 8th) on this page. I’ve therefore embedded all the “practical kata bunkai” videos put out during that time on this page.

During that time we also put up the final part of the three part Extreme Impact drill. So that people can view the full drill more easily I’ve embedded all three parts on this page too.

I hope you enjoy the videos and there are plenty more to come!

Kris Wilder and Iain chat on Martial Secrets podcast

Kris Wilder (co-author of ‘The Way of Kata’ & ‘The Little Black Book of Violence’) and I had a 45 min chat for his Martial Secrets podcast when I was in the USA last week. It was a fun discussion on stances, writing, my teachers, unhealthy (but delicious!) food stuffs, and a few other things besides. You can download and listen to the podcast via this link:

All Practical Kata Bunkai and Extreme Impact videos since June 22nd

I’m working on the July newsletter at the moment. To make things easy for newsletter subscribers I though it would help if I put all the videos we have done since the last newsletter update (June 22nd) on this page. I’ve therefore embedded all the “practical kata bunkai” ones, and the “extreme impact” ones, that we’ve put out in the last couple of weeks. Many more to come!

All the best,

Iain

Hi All,

Like my bruises on Facebook

Hi All,

Site regulars will be interested to know that a Facebook page has been set up around the “Ask me about your bruises” T-Shirts and the great cause they are raising funds for!

What you all need to do is get a T-Shirt, get your picture taken in it, and then get it up on the Facebook page! In the meantime, could all Facebook users be sure to give the page a “like” and spread the word on this great way for karateka to look cool and do a good thing! Thank you very much! I’ll now hand you over to Eric!

All the best,

Iain
