On Sunday the 3rd of November 2019 I will be returning to Unit 1 in Chesterfield! At this event we will be exploring the applications and origins of the “13-hands” family of kata. Most styles have a version of this kata: Seishan (Wado), Seisan (Shito-Ryu & Goju-Ryu), Hangetsu (Shotokan), etc. While these kata are believed to have a common origin, and they have much in common, they nevertheless have some distinct differences. This seminar will compare and contrast these versions in order to give the participant insights into the fighting system that inspired these kata. The seminar is open to all styles and no prior knowledge of the kata is needed. The seminar will run from 11:30am to 3:30pm and will be held at Unit 1 Martial Arts, Unit 1, Brimington Rd, Chesterfield, S41 7UW. The cost is £30 per person (bring four students and instructor goes free!). To book your place please contact Dave Cartawick on 07768 727722 or dmcartawick@btinternet.com. I look forward to seeing you there!
