I created a brief video in which I'm explaining to beginners how we might apply the high block motion as a defense and counter against a high wrist grab. I'm continuing to explore ways to make kihon practice practical by developing basic partner drills.
Best,
David
Thank you for sharing these David. I like how you put the motion into context by including both preceding events and how to exploit the position the bunkai leaves you in. Always important to do that I think; and the fact you’re doing that from the off with beginners is great. That’s the way to learn karate :-)
All the best,
Iain
Nice
Thanks so much for the continued support and encouragement. This is not how I was taught karate, and I'm enjoying experimenting with different methods and strategies for teaching the techniques along with application. I'm finding that the students really appreciate drilling applications along with kihon. It just makes sense.
Best,
David
