Bunkai Book

Hi everyone,

after many years of training and studying karate ive decided that i would like to right a book on Kata and Bunkai, ive got everything ready, title, contents etc but really have no idea how to go about getting it published etc.

Would really like some help and guidance from those who knows about how to go about the above.

Many thanks,

Jason

Jason,

I'd write the book and get a good first draft down then set it aside for a couple of months. After a month or two re-read and  make revisions. Then get a good copy together and have your peers review it. Remember, critical reviews are helpful even if they are painfull.  Once you've completed your work send it out to selected martial arts publishers (google martial art publishing if you haven't one lined up) with a couple of chapters, an outline and a letter stating the book's purpose, intended audience, why you wrote it and your qualifications. Then wait and see. Don't be suprised if you get rejection slips, its part of the game.  You might also want to consider publishing it through createspace, which is easier though not cheaper, as is the case with the other self-publishing companies. With self-publishing you won;t have the backing of a publishing house therefore you'll have to work your tail off advertising your book, but at least most of the profits will be yours. Most of all don't quit your day job to write your book.

Just my advice.

Best,

Mike

I'm looking forward to reading your book, I prefer Hard copies instead of ebooks though
