THE FINAL THREE! As you know, we have decided to take a collective look at a given kata sequence. We asked for suggestions, and asked people to vote on those suggestions. The votes are now in!
The three most popular pieces of kata that people wish to see analysed are the following:
1 - The opening move of bassai-sho (ends legs crossed, hand open and arms forming a "square")
http://youtu.be/kLjbEyvvufg?t=20s
2 - The opening motions of Saifa (one hand open - one hand in a fist pulled to hip followed by dropping "backfist" in to horse stance)

3 - The fumikomi geris and "elbow blocks" from heian sandan.

All the best,

The opening of bassai-sho gets my vote.
Would also love to see that later part of the kata where you do a huge circular movement with your arm as you spin around.
You picked a good one! Kanazawa is the best, my interpretation of Bassai-Sho's opening movement is catching of a punching arm (the bottom hand goes under his arm, the top hand grabs the back of his head) placing your hip up against your opponent, and executing a turning-throw. The crossing of the feet or legs gives it away.
Bassai Sho would be interesting to see.
First move of Bassai Sho.
Saifa is winning by a considerable margin at the moment. Please make sure as many of you as possible vote. Any of them is of interest to me, but I'd like to ensure the most popular one is the first one we look at :-)
Saifa for me too.
Bassai Sho gets my vote.
warren.
Bassai-Sho for me too.
