Teens are playing a very deadly game called "knockout." Teens are randomly gong up to people to try to knock them out. I think this really stresses the need for us to be alert and very aware of our surroundings. The victims dont have opportunity to react, block/counter seems useless; awareness and avoidance, as always, is the best answer. BTW- Im not condemning or putting any of the victims at fault, so as much as just illustrating how important it is for us to be on the alert.
I saw that on another forum and just couldn't believe the attitude of the kids involved. "It was fun" being the usual comment. As you say most of the victims walked straight into it, not at fault but nevertheless sleepwalking instead of being switched on.
Maybe someone will have to get shot before others decide it's no longer great sport to ruin someones life.

Lets pray it doesnt come to that
Hopefully they try to hit the wrong person.
Almost inevtiable really, not so much that they will get beat up on the spot, but that eventually someone will exact revenge. Can't end well.
This "game" was popular a couple years ago under the name "Knockout King," as well, and I recently saw a story about a teenager playing this "game" with a stun gun instead of a punch, and he ended up being (non-fatally) shot. These kids don't understand consequences and, for the most part, they don't consider another person's death to be a consequence of their actions. It will probably take several cases of "players" being killed or injured before the "game" tapers off in popularity, which is unfortunate.
It didn't take long:
