Body Opponent Bag

Does anyone have any good resorces on utilizing a B.O.B., I just got one and have some makeshift arms on it but obviously it doesnt move like an actual person. Videos, books, dvds, or your own drills would be some awsome help. Also has anyoned practice kata movements on one?

I have practiced on one for a bit. In my experience they are useful for contouring your strikes according to anatomical target and attacking from different angles. Usually what I would do was work different techniques dependent on angle as I Progressed around it with footwork. The downsides are that they don't move at all really (unlike a heavy bag), if you hit them hard they can fall down, and of course the surface is nothing like an actual person. The one I used was just a torso (I think full body ones exist?), so it was next to useless for kicking because I don't do long range body kicks really, I recall the only leg strikes I could realistically use it for were a few knees here and there.

So for instance you could start at it's right side as you attack the jaw or neck with a shuto/punch combo, transition to directly in front as you palm heels to the chin, again do the opposite side shuto/punch combo once on it's left side, and transition behind it for takedown, choke setups etc. You can come up with some fun drills like this, and develop some real speed in transitioning. It's a fun tool.
