Naihanchi Oyo

The flow part I learned at one of Iain's seminars a long time ago. ( I'm sure it's modified/screwed up a bit) We're trying to get the opponents weapons pointed away, secure a grip, imbalance, and create opening to escape. Also some naihanchi kicks, sabaki, sweeps and clinch/control positions.

I love to see my drills be shared and grow! Thanks for doing that. It’s pretty much as we do it. For other members, here is a video showing the drill:

(NOTE: App users can see a forty minute detailed breakdown of the drill at Main Menu > Kata Bunkai > Naihanchi / Tekki > Limb Control Flow Drill > Naihanchi / Tekki Limb Control Flow Drill In-Depth)

I liked how you broke down the leg attack, balance break and leg lift. That’s good material well explained. Thanks for filming and posting!

All the best,

Iain

Thank you for the positive feedback! I appreciate getting to do many flows/drills all the time at Ken Bakers Dojo, He is looking forward to going to Iain's residential in June and I'm sure we're going to have some great new material to work on! I wasn't planning on teaching Naihanchi but everyone knew the kata, I was actualy teaching a Jujitsu class at a Shotokan Karate school. These Naihanchi drills work great for the initial clash, tie up and clinch positions then we worked throws, takedowns and locks. Thank you Iain for the great drills and Ideas to work with!

all the best,

Jeb

You’re welcome and likewise! We can all share and learn from each other. That’s the way the individual, the community, and the art advances and grows.

All the best,

Iain

Great material, Jeb. The demonstrations and explanations of the kicks and leg manipulations are very clear. I like it a lot.

Thanks and take care,

Marc
