Sweet! Two things I really like. Firstly, it’s proof-positive that you can do a formal, clean and visually impressive demonstration of bunkai without having to resort to the kind of non-sensical flamboyance often assorted with “bunkai” exhibitions (take note kata competition teams!). Secondly, I like the use of the double arm raise at the end of the kata that is unique to the TSD version. We karate types don’t have that, so it’s never included in our material. Great to see!

Really fine demonstration, Azato. Very clean, very close to the form, very practical. Needs to be more of that in the TSD community.
Excellent demonstration and applications. Thanks for sharing.
Take care,
Marc
Awesome. I'm interested in this locking application of the high x-block. Would you mind sharing a tutorial on that lock?
This old video covers that lock (Seven years ago! That's gone fast!). I hope it’s of some use.
All the best,
Iain
Thanks as always, Iain!
I love this video. I know it's a long shot but do you have any video of the throw at the end that you mention?
It’s covered in detail in “The Pinan / Heian Series: The Complete Fighting System Vol. 2”

It’s also mentioned in passing at 1:45 and 3:37 in the YouTube clip below.
I hope that helps.
All the best,
Iain
Here's another application demonstrated by John Burke that is similar to what Iain shows but with a twist:
Thanks, Marc! (I'm just now getting around to watching that video.)
