Hello, everyone!
This week on Waza Wednesday, we take a look at the series of morote-uke (double receiver/"blocks"), or sasae-uke (supported receiver/"blocks") found at the end of Pinan Yondan. We use the concept of meotode (husband/wife hands) and kobo ittai (simultaneous attack/defense) as the starting point for these techniques, and show both striking and grappling methods based on the movements of the kata.
Hi Westlander
Very nice video, i like te use of it as a drag down it generates nice power, I use morote uchi as a sweep/takedown like on video below or a joint lock.
(Watch from 38 Seconds)
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.
Les
Excellent, thank you both for sharing your ideas with us.
We use it as both of those, as well! This tends to be the most basic level of application that we teach for it, and from there go into the takedowns and armbars like the ones you show. All good stuff! Thanks for sharing yours, too!
Thank you,
Video meant to play from 38 second don't know why it's going from begining. :)
That will be me Les :-) When I emended it for ease of viewing, the time code in the link disappears. No way around that I’m afraid because YouTube does not give the option of a start place for the embed code it generates. I’ve added the words “Watch from 38 Seconds” as a low-tech “solution” :-)
All the best,
Iain
Thanks Iain, my computer skills are very poor :)
In this case it’s YouTube’s fault :-)
