Bunkai Checklist

Hi everybody,

during the last years I have compiled a few rules that can help with checking the plausibility of a kata application.

http://www.kata-karate.de/index.php/bunkai-regeln/en

The rules can be used as a kind of checklist for applications. Understanding the ideas behind the rules may also help with coming up with applications in the first place.

The rules come from various sources. Sadly I don't remember all of them. This is just a collection of notes I jotted down when I read a book here or an article there, listened to a podcast or saw a dvd or a video online.

Your suggestions for more or different rules that you know or use are very welcome.

Take care,

Marc

That's a nice well considered checklist Marc. It differs from the ones I have outlined in my books in a few areas, but I'm sure would produce very  good results for those following it with due dilligence.

All the best

Thanks, John. I would be glad to add more rules to the checklist. How do yours differ?

All the best,

Marc
